Devotional: 

Welcome to 21 days of fasting and prayer. Our devotional theme is “Treasure Hunters.”
Text: Mt.13:44
Intro.
  1.  Mt.13:44 has 2 interpretations.
    a. Jesus is the treasure hunter and we are the treasure.
    b. Jesus is the treasure and we are the treasure hunters.
        1. This devotional is built on this interpretation.
I. When Jesus is my treasure what does that do in my heart?
  1.  How does it cause me to examine areas in my heart?
  2. Areas to consider: People and Things
    a. They need to be put in their appropriate place in my heart.
    b. They need to be assigned the appropriate value in my heart.
    c. The emotions we hold in our heart toward people and things need to be dealt with in an appropriate manner.
  C.  Gen.22  Abraham and Isaac
         a. Abraham’s relationship with his son Isaac was challenged by the Lord.
         b. Abraham’s emotions for his son and the value he placed in him was challenged by the Lord.
         c. The Lord was concerned that Abraham’s value for the Lord Himself had diminished.
               1. Things were out of order.
          d. When the Lord is our #1 Treasure it resets our heart. It puts people ( Isaac)and things ( Promise)in the proper place where they belong.
           e. Gen.22
                1. The Lord spoke and said ,”Now I know…”
                 2. Now the Lord knew that He was Abraham’s treasure.

Questions:

1. When Jesus is my treasure what does that do in my heart?

2. How does it cause me to examine areas in my heart?

3. Is the Lord your greatest treasure?

4. Are people and things in their appropriate place?

Prayer:

Lord I pray You will deal with your people if they have drawn back and have become stagnant. I pray they will begin to pursue You as their greatest treasure and be willing to pay the price! In Jesus Name!!!
