Today’s Verses:

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Romans 4:20-21

that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12

Devotional:

This is the day the Lord has made! We will rejoice and be glad in it! Now is the time to seek the Lord, and we are seeking the Lord through our 21 days of prayer and fasting. There is always a promise that comes with seeking the Lord. The Bible says ALL the promises of God are yes and amen. Perhaps as you are fasting, you are holding fast to a promise of God, or the Lord has given you a new promise to hold on to. We can never earn a promise from God, we do not deserve a promise of God, we do not merit a promise; they are like gifts! They come to us from God, through Jesus. He is the ultimate promise of God, and because we are in Christ, His promises become our promises! Romans 4:20-21, “20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” You must believe. When God gave a promise to Abraham, the Bible says he believed God and it was accounted unto him as righteousness. We cannot inherit a promise through our works, it’s through faith! We simply believe it. God will be faithful to his promises. Still, we have to wait for the Lord’s promises. When given a promise, we will almost always have to wait for it. Abraham waited 25 years! Hebrews 6:12 ” that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” When God gives us a promise; almost always we will have to wait for it. Don’t give up on God, keep believing! We also must hide the promises of God in our heart. When we hide His word in our heart, we are like Mary, who pondered the Word of the Lord in her heart, regarding the promise of Jesus. The when and the how always belong to God! We will be tested by the Lord’s promises. Joseph was tested by the word of the Lord, he was given a promise and ended up in prison. While in prison he was tested. Will you continue to believe? Are you still believing? The final thing to remember is that we cannot bring the promises to pass on our own. The fulfillment of the promise always rests on God. If we try to bring a promise to pass on our own, we will make a mess, we will get frustrated, and it won’t do us any good! Yet if we let God bring it to pass, by believing and holding fast, it will yield the peaceable fruit of righteousness to you.

Questions:

  1. Will you continue to believe?
  2. Are you still believing?
  3. Do you have the faith to believe for a promise?

Prayer:

Today is the day that you have made God and I will rejoice and be glad in it. I will choose to have faith today, faith to believe that your promises will come to pass in my life. Thank you that you have proven your promises will come to pass time after time and I’m holding onto that by faith today. Amen.
