Devotional:
Treasure Hunters
Matthew 13:44 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
A. Jesus is our treasure
1. Jesus is of infinite value.
2. Jesus is our exceeding great reward.
Colossians 2:3 “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
B. Jesus is hid in a field.
1. Jesus is hidden by spiritual blindness.
2. Jesus is hidden by everyday life and circumstances. The cares of this world hide the Lord.
2 Corinthians 4:4 “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
3. Jesus is hidden from the proud but revealed to the humble.
Matthew 11:25 “At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.” C. Jesus is found when you seek Him
1. Seeking Him requires intentional pursuit.
2. Seek the Lord with prayer and fasting.
Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Questions:
1. Does it feel like Jesus is hiding from you?
2. Is there something in your life you need to surrender in order for Jesus to be revealed more to you?
3. Are you ready to find more of Jesus?
Prayer:
Lord, on day 1 of the fast, get my heart in the right position to receive from you what you want me to receive. I want to be an open vessel to become all that you have created me to be. I want to put my heart in a place to find the great treasure. Help me these next 21 days to find you more and more.
