Today’s Verses:

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”

32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”

33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”

34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” John 4:31-38

Devotional:

What kind of hungry and thirsty are you? John 4 is a story of the disciples buying food and when they brought the food to Jesus, He told them he didn’t need to eat because He ate food they know not of. The disciples were confused because they knew He didn’t eat any food. What was that food that Jesus ate? There is an economy of heaven and a will of the Father that satisfies the spirit man. Jesus alone is our soul satisfied. Jesus’ food was to do the will of the Father and that should be our food today too. Where do you find your strength? Be filled today church, so that we have strength in the day of adversity. When Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was thirsty for the presence of His Father. Let’s hunger and thirst for the treasure of heaven.

Questions:

  1. What kind of hungry and thirsty are you?
  2. What was that food that Jesus ate?
  3. Are you thirsty for His presence today?

Prayer:

God, I am thirsty for you presnce today. I am thirsty to feel your presence and to do your will. I want the kind of food that feeds the spirit man…the kind of food that others know nothing about. Feed me today the most important food…your will.
