Tragedy into Blessing

R.C. Sproul said, "God, in his providence, has the power and the will to work all things together for good for his people. This does not mean that everything that happens to us is, in itself, good. Really bad things do happen to us. But they are only proximately bad; they are never ultimately bad. That is, they are bad only in the short (proximate) term, never in the long term. Because of the triumph of God's goodness in all things, he is able to bring good for us out of the bad. He turns our tragedies into supreme blessings."

Do you agree with R.C. Sproul concerning tragedy and God's providence?

What are some of your thoughts on the subject?

I agree with R.C. as in

I agree with R.C. as in Romans 8:28, "and we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." meaning that even though there will be some bumps in the road, they will work together for good. Charles Stanley just wrote in a devotional that we should be considerate of God's plan in someone's life during times of struggle, since we tend to want to help that person, but are we interrupting God's plan for that person? God will allow these things to happen in a way that will decrease our self-sufficiency, and increase our faith and dependence on Him. If we try to bail someone out, we are interfering sometimes with God's work, therefore we need to pray about this before jumping in. The Bible is filled with struggles and events that helped to prepare people for their ultimate destiny in His work for them.
